A tricky one this month! What newly submitted photo to put on the front page? There was Chas Moonie's great picture of a female
Stonechat that is sadly a very rare sight in the county. Or Dave Grant's (let's be charitable here

) "insurance shot" of a
Long-billed Dowitcher at Lochlea (which also made it onto the
County List as it was the first for this species). Or his attempt to convince me that a gull was interesting. Then there was Angus Hogg's great pictures of
Swallows in his garden. Oh, and there were a few shots of a juvenile
Pallid Harrier...! No sooner have we got the
revised county list published when an inconsiderate newcomer wants to join. Well, we'll have to wait for the great+good on the bird record committees to chew that one over, but in the meantime
savour the photos sent in by Chas Moonie and Angus Hogg of this stunning bird. And if the BBRC needs a good write-up then my dog Jazz has some excellent field notes. So my thanks to all this month's contributors to the
Photo Gallery.
